BACKGROUND: Ravinia Festival opened its 2004 centennial season with three performances of the first South African Zulu opera, “Princess Magogo kaDinuzulu,” in its American premiere. The work was selected by Ravinia in recognition of the 10th anniversary of democracy in South Africa. The materials were based on the South African flag.
